Greg Layson is a product of the Southern California youth and high school baseball hotbed. He led his Grossmont HS Baseball Team to a CIF Title his senior in 1990 as a switch hitting lead off man and shortstop. Highly recruited, Layson chose the University of Notre Dame, in South Bend, Indiana.
At Notre Dame, Layson earned Freshman All American honors to kick-start his career that included four year letter-winning, four time all-conference and .320 plus batting average. As a true lead-off hitter, he holds many Notre Dame Top-10 career numbers including on base %, stolen bases and runs scored. He calls his BA in Psychology his proudest college achievement.
His coaching career includes lessons in the Chicagoland area at Swingtown Baseball Academy and was billed as THE standout hitting instructor where he routinely gave 80 plus infield and batting lessons a week.
Other professional highlights include a robust sales and marketing career in the health and fitness industries.
Layson enjoys Baseball, surfing and half marathons in the La Jolla Village area of California where he resides with his wife and two children, 5 and 3.
Greg currently holds the Freshman Baseball Head Coaching position at La Jolla High.
